Innovative Training for Evolving Clinicians
Supporting clinicians in deepening their craft, sustaining their well-being, and expanding what’s possible in practice
At TDI, we believe that great therapy begins with an evolving therapist. Our mission is to create transformative learning experiences that deepen clinical skill, expand self-awareness, and strengthen the capacity for authentic human connection. We know that growth doesn’t stop at licensure; it’s an ongoing process of curiosity, reflection, and refinement.
Our programs are designed for therapists who want to go beyond the basics - to integrate theory with embodied practice, to translate insight into impact, and to bring both rigor and heart to their work. We offer stand-alone trainings, intensives, and experiential, and research-informed training that bridges traditional psychotherapy models with emerging approaches grounded in neuroscience, systems thinking, and the lived experience of clients and practitioners alike.

Let’s Go Deeper
At the Therapist Development Institute, we build spaces for serious learning and genuine connection. Our programs are designed for clinicians who want to think deeply, feel fully, and practice with clarity and purpose. If you crave learning that goes beyond checking a “CEU requirement” box, we’re the place for you.
Each of our courses blends theory and application, dedicated study and reflection, so that what you study doesn’t stay on the page - it transforms how you think, feel, and show up in your work.
This is learning that asks something of you: curiosity, honesty, and the willingness to grow. In return, it offers renewal - the kind of meaning and mastery that can sustain your practice for years to come.
Explore our current offerings, join an upcoming intensive, or connect with us to find the right next step in your professional journey. We look forward to journeying with you.

Each program varies, but in general, our courses are designed for licensed and pre-licensed clinicians*, supervisors, and mental health professionals who want to expand their skill set and cultivate deeper self-awareness. Participants often include psychologists, psychiatrists, physicians, social workers, professional counselors, and psychotherapists from diverse orientations.
Our intensives and deep dives are especially suited for clinicians who are insatiable learners: those who want to go beyond minimum CEU requirements and truly dig into their craft, refine their clinical thinking, and evolve as reflective practitioners.
*Current graduate or doctoral students are eligible to attend after completion of at least one practicum.

We always recommend checking with your licensing board to confirm that our courses meet their specific requirements. We’re happy to provide course plans, outlines, and learning objectives to any participant—or anyone considering participation—for submission to their board if needed.
Our courses are rigorous, empirically grounded, and aligned with best-practice CE standards, often exceeding the expectations of traditional CEU programs. However, because CEU regulations vary by jurisdiction, we encourage you to verify with your professional body before enrolling.

Licensure marks the beginning of independent practice, not the end of learning. Most clinicians discover that the deeper they go into the work, the more complex, subtle, and personal it becomes. Technical competence can get you started; but sustained growth requires reflection, depth, and ongoing refinement.
Our courses are designed for clinicians who know the fundamentals, and want to move beyond them: to dive deeper, question what they think they know, and revisit the basics with new eyes. The work invites you to slow down and study the architecture of your own thinking - to compare models, examine assumptions, and see where your clinical instincts align or diverge from the theories you were trained in.
This kind of learning isn’t about checking a box. It’s about keeping your work alive: expanding your capacity to understand, to connect, and to intervene with clarity and compassion. It’s about tending to the part of you that makes this work possible: the therapist’s mind, body, and heart.
In short: seasoned clinicians take this much training not because they have to - but because they get to.

We understand that clinicians are busy. Our courses include readings and assignments designed to help you stay engaged with the material and build competence over time.
That said, you are welcome to audit the course if you prefer not to complete the full workload. Auditors attend all class sessions and participate in discussions but do not complete tests, papers, or other graded work. This option allows you to absorb the material without the added pressure of formal evaluation. With this option, we still recommend planning for time to complete reading outside of class. If you have questions about whether the time commitment, please reach out to us via the contact form at the bottom of the page!
-
Our courses are designed for theoretical and applied learning, not formal clinical supervision. While we often use case material as examples to explore theory in context (much like a graduate classroom) this does not replace clinical supervision.
If you’re hoping to use our courses toward supervision hours, please check with your licensing board to determine whether the format meets their criteria. Our programs center on theoretical knowledge and integration, rather than ongoing case consultation in a supervision framework.
-
Our grading system isn’t about judgment, it’s about tracking competency and fostering self-assessment. We use a simple 1–4 scale to help participants identify where they are in the learning process and where they may want to deepen their understanding.
The scale reflects a progression from awareness to integration, helping learners and instructors alike monitor growth in both theoretical knowledge and applied skill.
